Talkative Shelter Cat Waits for the Perfect Family After Rescue

Shelters across the country work hard every day to rescue cats and help them find loving homes after spending much of their lives outdoors.

However, some cats need extra care or are older, which can make finding them a forever family much more difficult.

Smittens Rescue in San Diego, California, recently took in a sweet tuxedo cat. This gentle boy was found in a parking lot, patiently waiting for someone to notice him and give him the love he deserved.

After bringing him to the shelter, the volunteers quickly realized that Monte was a very special cat.

This sweet, fluffy boy was incredibly affectionate and loved being around people. Because he was always asking for attention and chatting with everyone, the volunteers gave him the nickname “Constant Contact.”

Monte would meow loudly whenever someone came near, hoping for cuddles and some love.

Adorably, Monte even enjoyed going on walks with a leash. The shelter volunteers would take him to PetSmart, where he loved checking out all the new toys.

But Monte had a way of stealing attention wherever he went. Even the PetSmart staff couldn’t resist stopping to cuddle him. He would happily meow until they paused their work and gave him the affection he wanted.

As the shelter shared in one of their Instagram posts:

“Just your average, friendly cat who enjoys long walks at the store, pets all day every day, meowing, and listening to Limp Bizkit.”

Monte was a chatty, gentle cuddle bug — the kind of cat many people dream of having.

Soon after, he joined an adoption event with other cats and kittens from Smittens Rescue, hoping someone would fall in love with him.

Sadly, the day ended without a single adoption application for sweet Monte. The shelter staff were disappointed and shared an update about him:

“Monte received no applications at our adoption event. Please share to help him find a home!”

The shelter staff were heartbroken that such a sweet cat like Monte had trouble finding a home.

But after sharing his story with their followers, everything changed. Thanks to the post, Monte received more than 40 adoption applications in just one night!

Just two days later, Monte was heading to his forever home. His new family gave him the name Mushi, and he finally had a place where he could enjoy endless love, attention, and cuddles.

Thanks to Smittens Rescue and the wonderful people of San Diego, this sweet boy finally got the safe and loving future he deserved.
