Eric, their owner, shared the moment he realized Cairo was starting to feel a little bored and needed some extra companionship.

“At first, he just pawed at me for attention. Then at some point, he literally started complaining out loud like, ‘Hello, you haven’t pet me in like 30 minutes. I need attention. NOW!’”

Seeing Cairo’s behavior as a sign that he needed a companion, Eric decided it was time to bring another pet into the family.

That’s when Sultan entered the picture!

The sweet British Shorthair quickly became the friend Cairo needed, and their special bond began to grow.

When Sultan arrived at their San Diego home, Eric took a thoughtful approach. He divided the apartment so each pet had their own space while still being able to see and get used to each other from a safe distance.

Sultan, being the curious little cat he was, quickly started exploring his new home and checking out all the toys waiting for him.

Cairo was a bit more cautious at first. Instead of rushing over, he quietly watched his new housemate from a distance.

Eric noticed:

“He would just look at Sultan like he was still making up his mind about him.”

Although both pets were still getting used to each other, Eric remained hopeful.

He knew that building a friendship would take some time, and all they needed was patience while adjusting to their new life together.

By the end of the first week, Eric noticed something sweet. Even though Cairo and Sultan didn’t seem very interested in each other at first, both of them still wanted his love and attention.

So, Eric found a comfortable spot on the floor and gave them both some affection — petting Cairo with one hand and Sultan with the other.

Soon, the two pets were falling asleep next to each other. Seeing them relax together warmed Eric’s heart and showed him that their bond was slowly growing.

As the weeks passed, Cairo started showing more interest in Sultan. He would gently nudge the kitten with his nose and even give him a few loving licks.

These little signs of friendship made Eric feel hopeful. He could see that Cairo and Sultan were on their way to becoming the best of friends..

Eric was overjoyed when he saw Cairo truly accept Sultan as part of their family.

Watching the two pets grow closer and build such a sweet friendship was a special moment for him. He knew his once-lonely dog had finally found the perfect companion.

“The first time I saw them playing was around the third week. Sultan suddenly stood up and started swatting at Cairo’s face, and he started to play back. A few days later, they were having full-on sparring sessions and the rest was history.”

From that day forward, Cairo and Sultan became inseparable. Their bond continued to grow stronger with every passing day.

Life in Eric’s San Diego home became much more fun with these two around. They are always doing something together — creating their own games, sharing sweet moments, or simply relaxing side by side.

Eric even shared a heartwarming video of Sultan happily kneading on Cairo, and it’s the kind of adorable moment that can melt anyone’s heart.

What’s even more surprising is that Cairo, who was never a big fan of cuddles before, now happily shares his bed with Sultan.

It’s clear that Sultan has a very special place in Cairo’s heart. After all, letting a cat curl up beside you in your bed is a pretty big sign of trust and love.

“I don’t think Cairo would let anyone else get away with this, but he does with Sultan.”

Having Cairo and Sultan in his life has brought Eric so much happiness. He loves watching their playful moments, seeing them share meals, cuddle together, and enjoy their everyday life as companions.

Eric still finds their growing friendship amazing. What surprised him most was how quickly their bond became so strong and special.

As he shared:

“Once they got comfortable – there was no going back!”
