She went online and asked if anyone had an orange cat she could borrow for her kids’ Garfield-themed birthday party. Yes, that really happened!

Clara Edwards is an Oklahoma mom who loves making her kids’ dreams come true. She recently started a unique search after her oldest daughter, Madison, said she wanted a lasagna dinner.
In an interview with Business Insider, Clara shared:
“Our oldest, Madison, just wanted to eat lasagna. We cooked her lasagna and she got sad because Garfield wasn’t there. That’s what really started it.”
Many people, including me, first thought she was planning a birthday party. But the truth was, it was just a normal dinner.
Clara wanted to make the meal extra special, so she went online and looked for someone who could lend her an orange cat. She hoped the cat would make the lasagna dinner feel like a scene straight out of a Garfield comic.

At first, Clara asked her friends and family if they had an orange cat or knew someone who did.
When that didn’t work out, she tried Craigslist and even put up a flyer at her office. The flyer said:
“Wanted: to BORROW an orange cat for 24 – 48 hours, to have a lasagna dinner with Garfield-loving 4-year-old and 2-year-old children. Will return cat happy and cared for. Cat will not be required to eat lasagna if contraindicated. Please. No feral cats. And please take your cat back at the end. Not looking to adopt. Thank you, An increasingly desperate (but not crazy) mom-of-two with no friends that own orange cats.”
After searching for two months, Clara finally got lucky when a medical student from the Oklahoma City area replied to her Craigslist post.
Christi and Conor, the cat’s owners, were happy to help. They brought their orange cat to the Garfield-themed party and even arrived with cupcakes covered in bright orange icing to match the theme.

Clara was so happy that they were willing to lend their beloved cat to someone they didn’t even know.
Because of their kindness, they brought huge smiles to the children’s faces and even made new friends along the way. As Clara shared:
“They’re really great people, and we’re still in contact. My kids get to meet a cat, and we have friends now.”

The main highlight of the dinner party was, of course, lasagna — Garfield’s favorite food.
After seeing the viral posts about Clara’s themed dinner, Stouffer’s reached out to her and offered to provide their frozen lasagna for the special event.
It turned out to be such a fun and memorable party, didn’t it?

When people asked Clara about the party and her sweet idea, she didn’t think it was a big deal. She simply said that moms do whatever they can to make their kids happy.
Many parents go the extra mile for their children, but Clara’s kindness was especially touching. She welcomed complete strangers into her home just to create a special memory her kids would never forget.
