Meet the Playful Furry Resident of an Oklahoma City Museum You Won’t Want to Miss

Some cats have the most unusual homes, and one in Oklahoma City takes the prize — he lives in a museum!

Meet Indiana Bones, a playful kitty who calls the Museum of Osteology his home. He loves playing hide-and-seek with both the staff and visitors. Let’s take a closer look at his story!

A few years ago, Indiana was rescued by the museum staff — Brenna, Kristin, and Ally — who wanted a furry friend in their office.

They thought a cat would lift everyone’s spirits and bring the team closer together. After pitching the idea to their general manager, Josh, he gave them the go-ahead to adopt a cat from a local shelter.

So, they headed to the Moore Animal Welfare and Adoption Center to find their very first office cat.

The team had planned to adopt a kitten who could grow up in the museum. But Kristin had her heart set on a special older black cat named Onyx.

It was love at first sight. Kristin showered Onyx with affection, and he happily returned it.

She didn’t leave his side during the visit, showing him off to her coworkers. To everyone’s delight, they fell in love with him too!

The Moore Animal Welfare Adoption Center waived Onyx’s adoption fee, gave him all his shots, and even provided some cat food and toys for him to enjoy.

With everything ready, it was time to bring Onyx to his new forever home at the museum!

Once he settled in, his new family gave him a fitting name: Indiana Bones. Living in a museum full of skeletons, the name felt just right.

They even added the title “Sir” to make it extra special.

At first, Indiana was a little shy, but he soon got comfortable in his new home. With so many things to explore and play with, he quickly became a playful and loving cat, winning over the hearts of everyone at the museum.

Today, Indiana is a very happy cat! He spends his weekdays at the museum and enjoys weekends at Kristin’s or Brenna’s homes.

He also has some quirky interests. Indiana is obsessed with porcupine quills, treating them like his favorite toy or catnip.

Indiana also loves playing with bones, rubbing against antlers, and he’s a huge fan of the massive elephant skull in the museum. He especially enjoys curling up underneath it for daytime naps.

But his all-time favorite activity? Hide-and-seek! With so many corners and nooks in the museum, Indiana has endless spots to hide and surprise visitors and staff alike.

Thanks to his Instagram profile, people from all over the country visit the museum in Oklahoma City just to meet Sir Indiana Bones. He loves the attention and greets every guest with excitement.

Many visitors come specifically to see him, making Indiana the museum’s best “advertisement”! Someone definitely deserves a raise, don’t you think?
